“Warriors of Virtue,” a Kung Fu Kangaroo movie from 1997. Yes, that is none other than the legendary Doug Jones himself as one of the Kung Fu Kangaroos.
Despite this being a movie that came and went (and being the platonic ideal of a Nostalgia Critic review film), it’s an unlikely choice to receive an “expanded universe.” For starters, it got a toy line of surprisingly good quality to accompany the film.
It received a sequel as well (disappointingly, without anamatronic beast men, which was really the appeal of the first one – the laws of Tao are so weird that sometimes people are Kangaroos and sometimes they’re not).
And most intriguingly of all, it received a series of novels, where not only did suburban American kid Ryan enter the world of Tao and learn Kung Fu, but so did his friends, including Tracy, a girl love interest who was in the original film.
